We are pleased to provide counseling regarding the growing number of birth control options.

Birth Control Pills - are hormone medications that prevent the ovaries from releasing an egg, thicken cervical mucus, and thin the lining of the uterus. This allows for a very effective method of birth control.

Diaphragm - fitting is done in the office. A small dome-shaped soft device covers the cervix and is inserted by you before intercourse, along with the use of a spermicide.

IUD - The intrauterine device is a small plastic device that is inserted into the uterus to prevent pregnancy. The Mirena IUD releases small amounts of hormone in the lining of the uterus and can remain in for five years. The Paraguard IUD contains copper and can remain in the uterus for ten years. An IUD is easily removed whenever you desire.

Sterilization - is a permanent method of birth control. This can be performed by Dr. Sharpe with a procedure where the fallopian tubes are blocked.
